What is Sadaqah?Sadaqah is a form of voluntary charity that a Muslim gives towards the general betterment of the Ummah and society at large. Unlike Zakat, giving Sadaqah is not a religious obligation under Islam, it is however highly encouraged and one the most appreciated acts in the eyes of Allah (SWT) and the last Prophet (PBUH).
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
Who Can Give Sadaqah?Unlike Zakat, there is no wealth threshold to giving Sadaqah: anyone who wishes to give Sadaqah can do so, as little or as much as it may be. As the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:
“Protect yourself from hell-fire even by giving a piece of date as charity.”
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
UCI Projects That Your Sadaqah Makes Possible
There is no upper or lower limit to Sadaqah and unlike Zakat; there are no fixed categories of people or causes you can give Sadaqah towards. Islam has created this flexible form of charity to encourage Muslims to help people in need as much as possible.
By giving your Sadaqah through Ummah Charity International, you can help disenfranchised communities.
Feed the Homeless is another project of ours towards which you can give your Sadaqah and help feed those without shelter.
Sadaqah e Jariyah
The kind of Sadaqah whose reward continues as long as people benefit from its outcomes is called Sadaqah e Jariyah. It’s the kind of Sadaqah, whose rewards outlive you and benefit you in your afterlife. Sadaqah e Jariyah also transcends generation, that is, your descendants for generations will reap rewards from this good deed of yours.
“Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.” (Tirmidhi)
Sadaqah e Jariyah Programmes with UCI
Our programmes are created to make a positive and a long term impact on the communities we support.
One of our most successful Sadaqah e Jariyah project is our Water initiative through which we have provided reliable sources of clean water to over 200,000 individuals so far.
Through our Women Empowerment and Rozgar Projects, we give sewing machines and Rickshaws to provide a means of livelihood for the very poorest people. So far, we’ve helped over 3,500 people through these two projects combined.
Your Sadaqah can help people with poor vision and other serious eye conditions see clearly for the rest of their lives, through our Eye Care initiative.

Your Sadaqah e Jariyah Changed Tasleem Jahan’s Life
“My family and I live have been living on very little money for years now. My husband’s income is not enough to cover our expenses, especially because one of our sons has severe mental disabilities and needs medications which are quite pricey.
It is touching to see that people like Mufti Abdul Wahab and people who donate to Ummah Chairty International care about people like me. This sewing machine will help me earn for my family and make life a little easier for us.”
Note: You can donate Sadaqah, Lilah and Zakat towards our Ramadan projects. We also have a 100% Zakat policy, which means every pound of your Zakat donation goes to those who need it the most.
