In the UK, the promise of a new vaccine that could put an end to our pandemic era, is helping us to look forward to better times ahead, Insha’Allah.
But this Ramadan, as we turn in prayer and gratitude to our Maker, we must not forget: millions face a new economic reality that will leave them further exposed to increasing hardships for years to come.
This Ramadan, help us to help our brothers and sisters.
Together we can give hope and reduce uncertainty in the lives of those facing severe food shortages and further upheaval.
Give Zakat in Ramadan
As much as Ramadan is a time for devotion to Allah (SWT), the All-Knowing, it is also the best time to help those most in need!
By giving Zakat in Ramadan, our Maker multiplies our rewards by 70 times1 So what better time to calculate and donate.
Last year, your Zakat provided urgent relief for over a 100,000 Muslims in dire need. This year, the need is greater. Open your hearts to your brothers and sisters in need, and perhaps, with Allah’s will, their prayers will in turn increase your material and divine rewards.
We are committed to giving 100% of your Zakat to the mustahiqeen—the ones who most need your help.
One of the greatest gifts of this time is to be able to fulfil the Fard (obligatory) duty of Sawm (fast), for which we will be rewarded by Allah (swt):
“Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and righteousness.” [Q 2:183]
That’s why, here at UCI, we focus on providing aid in the form of Iftar and monthly food packs. Since 2014, we have given over 22,790 Iftar Packs to the needy and another 82,644 have benefitted from our Ramadan Food Packs distribution. Our Iftar food packs include all the basic necessities to keep a fasting family healthy through the month of Ramadan.
Give Water this Ramadan
The importance of water is felt most strongly when one is deprived of it. Perhaps, this is why the impact of water scarcity reaches its hights during Ramadan.
Communities that have limited access to clean water face the most challenging of times in the blessed month. Imagine fasting without access to clean water for basic hygiene, ablutions, and to use during Suhoor and Iftar.
You can make fresh clean water available to more impoverished and underprivileged communities across rural Pakistan.
Reap the rewards for this lifetime and beyond, increased exponentially becusae you’re giving in Ramadan.
Our Prophet (SAW) reported:
“Whoever draws near to Allah by performing any virtuous deed shall be like the one who had performed an obligatory act (Fard) in any other time, and whoever performs an obligatory act (Fard), shall be like the one who performed seventy obligatory acts in any other time.”[Reported by Ibn Khuzaimah (rh), on the authority of Salman al-Farsi (ra)]
Donate your Zakat to our Water Project now to make this Ramadan easier for thousands of Muslims in need.
Brighten a Child’s Eid
You can also donate an Eid Gift Pack to a child from a less privileged family. The gift pack contains things that are intended to make a child happy, to encourage them to keep their faith strong, both in their religion and in the goodness of their fellow Muslims.
Don’t forget to also give Kaffarah, Fidyah, and Fitrana this Eid! Read more about these here
“Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.“ (2:277)
Note: You can donate Sadaqah, Lilah and Zakat towards our Ramadan projects. We also have a 100% Zakat policy, which means every pound of your Zakat donation goes to those who need it the most.
