Did you know that women make up half of the global population yet represent more than 70% of the world’s poor? This imbalance is worse in developing countries, where many more women are unemployed and have fewer opportunities.
To address this, Ummah Charity International (UCI) started our Women’s Empowerment Project in 2014. Since then, we have helped over 2,500 impoverished women in Pakistan become independent. We have provided them with the tools and skills they require to earn a living. They can now provide for themselves and their families.
Naila Shares Her Story
Naila is one of the hundred women who received a sewing machine as part of our distribution drive in 2021. Talking to a member of the UCI team she told us her story:
“My husband has a disability so he cannot work now. He used to have a fruit cart but has been unemployed for some time. As a family, we were struggling to buy food. The house rent kept rising too and became unaffordable. I needed to work to help feed my family, but jobs are hard to find and pay is very little. I wanted a sewing machine to help me earn my own income.
I am very happy that Ummah Charity International has given me this sewing machine. I will pray for everyone at Ummah Charity, may Allah (SWT) bless you all.”
Can you help us help more women like Naila? This Ramadan, donate your Zakat, Sadaqah or Lillah to our Women’s Empowerment Project. Earn rewards for your charity and again when the beneficiaries make dua for you.
Help Women Become Independent
This Ramadan, please help women living in unfortunate circumstances through our Women’s Empowerment Project. UCI provides widows and women in need with tools so they can earn a dignified living for themselves and their families.
‘One who cares for widows and the poor is like those who fight in the way of Allah or those who spend their days fasting and their nights praying.’ (Bukhari)
Investing in someone so they can help themselves, is a sustainable way to uplift poor communities. When you donate towards our Women’s Empowerment Project in Ramadan, the rewards you receive for your charity, are multiplied.
Giving a woman in need a means to earn an income makes independent and benefits her and her family in the long term. This means they have a real chance to break the cycle of poverty.
‘Whoever draws near to Allah by performing any virtuous deed (in Ramadan) shall be like the one who had performed an obligatory act (Fard) in any other time, and whoever performs an obligatory act (Fard), shall be like the one who performed seventy obligatory acts in any other time.’ (Al-Bayhaqi)
Your donation today will help families for years to come. Give Muslim sisters a chance to earn their own income. Extend a hand of support by buying a sewing machine or two this Ramadan.
